How we got started
In the early part of 2005, Ken
Yuly, Lyle Torno
and Jerry Schempp sat down and had
breakfast at a Minot café.
They got to talking about the advantages of affiliating the
North Dakota Military Vehicles
Collectors Association,
a loose group of 4 or 5 people,
with the National Organization,
Military Vehicle Preservation
Association (MVPA).
The decision was made that the upcoming Minot Gun Show would be the first
try at
“enlisting” members for a North Dakota affiliate
of MVPA. We ordered some membership
material from the National office
in
Missouri, and set up a table among the military
vehicles we had on display at the show.
We were all gratified by the
response, we
signed up 8 members who either joined or
were already a member of MVPA, and another
8 members as “associate”
members,
that is members of only the ND-MVCA.
