This years Summer Show was our best
held to date. This year the ND-MVCA incorporated several new items, including a visit from the “Sisters
by Choice”, class judging and a “Best of Show” voted on by club members. As usual we
started set-up early Friday with the Command Tent, using that as a gathering place as members brought in their trucks.
“It’s quite the site, seeing so many good looking MV’s coming in from all over the State” stated
Ken Yuly, ND-MVCA president, I always amazed with how many member make the effort to gather here in Minot”. After
a long day, 16 ND-MVCA members gathered for dinner at the La Hacienda restaurant.
Saturday was cool and windy with some rain showers, but the crowds came to meet “Sisters by Choice”.
They showed up just as it started to sprinkle, originally they were going to do their show off the back of a Deuce,
instead we moved it to a tent. They did 3 songs in a really nice WWII “USO” style tribute show
and afterwards posed for lots of pictures. Sunday sunny weather made MV judging
easy, we had 17 MV’s registered for the 4 class’, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Post Vietnam. Owners
went with the judges to assist with questions and operation, first Stan with John Pitner assisting, did the “running
vehicle” scoring. Using MVPA judging sheets they went through checking lights, gauges and general
running conditions. Ken and Jay Cudworth did the next phase of judging looking at overall condition,
paint, markings, period correct accessories and data plates. Afterwards the sheets were combined to give
an overall score. The winning vehicles were in WWII, Tom Springer and his 45 MB, Korea, Lyle Torno and
his M-38A1C, Vietnam was Jen Yuly’s 66 M-718 Ambulance and finally Stan won the Post Vietnam for his 68 M-35A-1 Deuce.
Later all ND-MVCA members present voted for the overall “Best of Show” from the judged MVs and again Tom
Springer took First place in his MB. After a quick meeting the show wound down. Over
the weekend we had over 400 visitors looking at the 62 MV’s. This
year 3 rare MV’s showed up, Pete Sellie brought in his 41 VC-1 Command car while Lyle had an interesting 41 Dodge open
cab pickup and finally Stan showed up with a 73 M-561 Gama Goat.
